Report-back from Trade Office Protest

in

Yesterday, February 6th at 3pm people gathered with signs and hand-outs in front of the Minnesota Trade office protesting the continuation of state-facilitated trade between Minnesotan companies and the state of Israel. Representatives from local media were present, and around 4pm a banner was dropped from the top of an adjacent parking structure reading “END MN TRADE WITH APARTHEID ISRAEL, PALESTINE FOR PALESTINIANS.” A group of about 15 participants then attempted to enter the office, finding the entrance on the 5th floor of the building guarded by office employees and private security guards. People chanted to disrupt business and attempted to deliver information on the killings in Gaza, the continual occupation of Palestine, and the money made off massacre in the territories by Minnesotan companies. Participants left the entryway as police were arriving about ten minutes later chanting “WE’LL BE BACK.” Keep a look out for more follow-up actions on indymedia.
