STAAC RNC Trial on Tues. Jan 20

Please forward)

Hey everyone!

So... 7 of us (STAAC 7, or Wall 7) are going to trial together , starting on Tuesday
Jan. 20th, in St. Paul (at the Ramsey County Courthouse) for charges related to the
RNC. We REALLY need court support. Since the 7 of us are being tried together, (and
I'd say because they know that some of us are anarchists) they're not going to drop
the charges, so this is going to be one of the first misdemeanor trials to come out
of the RNC. Most of the other cases that have come up so far have just been dropped
for lack of evidence. From the polie reports, it doesn't really seem like they have
much evidence against us either, and all but one of the prosecution's witnesses are
cops, but they're going to be playing up the fact that we're anarchists, were
wearing all black, etc.

It's important that we win this case for more than just individual reasons. Because
it is one of the first cases to actually go to trial, the outcome could very well
effect how the dourts handle all of the rest of the cases. The prosecution is
putting a lot of energy into this, and if they can't win, they may not bother
bringing many others to trial. Also, rulings made during our case could become a
precedent for subsequent cases. In other words, if certain arguments are ruled in
our favor, then, these same arguments in other cases would automatically go in favor
of the defendents as well. (At least I'm pretty sure how it works).

If we can get a bunch of supporters from the community to do some court solidarity,
it would help to show the judge and jury that we have support from the people of the
city, that we weren't just out there to fuck shit up and leave.

If you have any questions, feel free to email me back (peacepunk315@yahoo.com), or call me a 857-207-6956. If
you are definitely going to be there, let me know, too. We're going to try to make
buttons or armbands or something for people who come to support us to wear.

Thanks for listening, and, please forward this to anyone you think might be able to
come.
