Video: RNC 8 Case Concludes

Today, October 25, was supposed to be the beginning of the trial of the RNC 8.  Originally facing terrorism charges under the first (and so far only) known use of the Minnesota PATRIOT Act, the eight anti-RNC organizers then faced four charges each before pressure on county attorney Susan Gaertner sent the terror enhancements packing.  In the end, Gaertner dropped charges against three of the eight completely, and in doing so found it easier to secure a final plea agreement on a lesser charge.

Final Pre-Trial, Circus Rally, Event Series and Other Updates on the RNC 8

Garrett Fitzgerald, Max Specktor, Nathanael Secor and Rob Czernik of the RNC 8

September 22 marked the final pre-trial hearing for the remaining four defendants of the RNC 8. Important details such as the jury selection process, outstanding issues with the evidence in the case and lists of witnesses and exhibits, the table arrangements for the defendants and defense attorneys during trial and other matters were all discussed.

Republican National Convention Crooks Charter revealed: Secret AIG insurance policy covers up criminal government operations, gags victims, plus the secret AIG PATROL!

A grim Iron Triangle of insurance lawyers, a huge $10 million AIG liability policy, and state and local courts have conspired to make a dense coverup "shell" for the illegal police and government official operations during the 2008 Republican National Convention. The City of Minneapolis has settled several cases recently but winning plaintiffs haven't spoken up on the state crimes, indicating they are likely gagged somehow.

Court Update from the Fourth Day of RNC 8 Hearings

Today was the fourth day of the RNC 8 hearings. Most of the day was spent questioning Sergeant Jay Maher of the Ramsey County Sheriff's Department Special Investigations Unit, who conducted extensive surveillance leading up to and following the RNC, worked with the Ramsey County Sheriff's Department informants and supervised some of the raids. Chris Dugger, another Welcoming Committee informant, was unavailable to testify today, and will take the stand tomorrow morning. Maher talked about the initiation of the investigation into the RNC WC.

New RNC 8 Video: We're Getting Ready For Court (QT)

In the summer of 2007, an Anarchist/Anti-Authoritarian group ironically named the “RNC Welcoming Committee (RNC-WC)” released a satirical video entitled, “We're Getting Ready.” (http://tinyurl.com/rncvideo ) The video sparked a quarter-of-a-million dollar investigation by the infamously humorless Ramsey County Sheriff's Office into the RNC-WC. Almost a year and a half later, eight organizers face conspiracy charges.

RNC Civil Litigation Meeting

Were you arrested on Sept. 4th, 2008, during the RNC in St. Paul? If so, you might be able to get involved in a civil suit from that day!

Come to our next organizing meeting:

Sunday, Oct. 25, 5:30pm
Mayday Books, 301 Cedar Ave S, Mpls

Several lawsuits have already been filed from incidents that occurred during the RNC, including a large one from Sept. 1, 2008 that will hopefully become a class action. Now we're working on figuring out which suits to file from the arrests on Sept. 4th, such as the mass arrest on Marion Bridge.
