On July 12th, greeting the humidity familiar to many of us, representatives from all across the mighty Midwest showed up to begin plugging into SECTOR 5 planning. Reaffirming once again that Midwestern resistance IS NOT fucking around when it comes to the RNC/SECTOR 5!

Now that more folks are coming into town, we want to sit down, see each other face-to-face, and have a longer discussion on the logistics of providing medical care at the RNC. We’ll hash out what exactly what ground has already been covered (and by who), what tasks still need to be completed, what our numbers are going to be, and all sorts of related topics.

This all-day course provides an introduction to general first aid, CPR and AED, along with some skills specific to treating protest injuries. Participants will earn certification in First Aid and Professional Level CPR/AED through ASHI (cost for certification cards is $10). Individuals completing this course will be prepared to assess severity of injuries, provide basic care and assist more experienced street medics.

Modern law enforcement tactics increasingly emphasize the use of “less-lethal”
weapons over the direct application of lethal force. Among the most commonly
deployed are incapacitating tools such as pepper spray, tasers, and batons. While
often promoted as being virtually harmless, these weapons can actually be quite
dangerous but with proper knowledge and preparation many of their effects can be
controlled or avoided entirely.

bonus though not required, as trainings are being offered. Folks working
