On July 12th, greeting the humidity familiar to many of us, representatives from all across the mighty Midwest showed up to begin plugging into SECTOR 5 planning. Reaffirming once again that Midwestern resistance IS NOT fucking around when it comes to the RNC/SECTOR 5!

At this spokes council, lots was discussed.

Whether we're at the shelters, outside the clubs during closing time or out at Critical Mass or other protest events, we've shown time and again that copwatch is a valuable service that helps to prevent police brutality and that provides important case documentation for people who are brutalized or falsely arrested. Now that more folks are coming into town, we want to sit down, see each other face-to-face, and have a longer discussion on the logistics of providing medical care at the RNC. We’ll hash out what exactly what ground has already been covered (and by who), what tasks still need to be completed, what our numbers are going to be, and all sorts of related topics.

This course provides street medics with information on applicable laws and on their rights in dealing with law enforcement agencies.

The Herbal Remedies training scheduled for 8/12 is being postponed to a future date. The new date will be posted when available.

Williamson Street. Register or check-in for PNC, get directions to housing
and share food and fun. Bike-in movie after sunset. ART OPENING, featuring
radical poster art from the past and present. If you are attending the PNC
and are a poster artist, please bring your work to display! This will be
at Escape Coffee, 916 Williamson Street all afternoon and into the
evening.

Silent Auction to Support the March on the Republican National Convention on September 1

FRI, 8/15 @ 7pm @ Black Dog Coffee & Wine Bar, 308 Prince Street
(Corner of 4th & Broadway in Lowertown) St. Paul

Spend your Friday night meeting other fun political people and eating tasty treats and drinking refreshments from the Black Dog Coffee and Wine Bar. The Coalition will charge $10 at the door and all attendees can place bids on restaurant meals, massages, private wine tastings, catering and time in vacation homes. Some of our items include:

JUST in a few weeks, the Republican National Convention (RNC) will be in our backyard Sept 1 through the 4th.

This will be the last meeting of this Coalition. Please plan to attend.

This will be our last chance to go over every groups plans and events, to share information regarding legal and other items of interest.

This all-day course provides an introduction to general first aid, CPR and AED, along with some skills specific to treating protest injuries. Participants will earn certification in First Aid and Professional Level CPR/AED through ASHI (cost for certification cards is $10). Individuals completing this course will be prepared to assess severity of injuries, provide basic care and assist more experienced street medics.

2pm to 4pm: Urban Composting and Chickens: Learn how to do composting for backyards and apartments. Then learn how easy it is to keep urban chickens and incorporate them into your composting system. Bedlam Theatre

4 to 5pm: Seed Ball Making: Seed Balls are great for guerilla gardening and an education activity for kids of all ages. Its simple, its fast, and you get to play in mud. Bedlam Theatre

The North Star Health Collective's Mental Health & Wellness Space Organizers are offering free trainings in Psychological First Aid to activists attending the Republican National Convention mobilization.

We need volunteers to direct cars and busses, set up the rally stage and media areas, and provide security throughout the rally and march. All day-of volunteers need to attend one of these meetings.

especially in times of stress and for affinity groups. whether your
group is round the table, in the streets or being held in jail -
consensus must prevail! a time for learning new tools and practicing,
bring your experiences and a notebook. at the Bedlam theater.

Modern law enforcement tactics increasingly emphasize the use of “less-lethal”
weapons over the direct application of lethal force. Among the most commonly
deployed are incapacitating tools such as pepper spray, tasers, and batons. While
often promoted as being virtually harmless, these weapons can actually be quite
dangerous but with proper knowledge and preparation many of their effects can be
controlled or avoided entirely.

HEY! Your community needs you!

This is a call-out for folks interested in volunteering for a 24-hour
advocacy/support phone line and/or wellness space during the Republican
National Convention. The phone line will be available August 25 –
September 5, and we will be staffing the North Star Wellness Center
September 1 – September 5. Previous experience and/or trainings are a
bonus though not required, as trainings are being offered. Folks working
in the wellness center will be required to be trained in Psychological 1st
